Dj Kazoo - a native New Yorker representing' Queens - began DJing in late 94 while attending the State University At Buffalo...The influence of the 92/93 rave scene (well travelled with dear friend Master D) led him down the turntable path! Another inspiration was Master D's lifelong friend Onionz - a NYC rave legend... Kazoo had been instantly hooked on the dark hardcore jungle soundz found in Toronto, 1993 - so his he began snatching up whatever jungle could be found either in Toronto or back home in NYC..Acid jazz, breaks & Deep "Detroit" Techno also severely damaged his wallet! In 94/95 - he had linked up with Ed "Alien" Petelis (Seuss) & the infamous Knowmatic Tribe (ONE & ONLY!) led by Dj Marcos... He began playing at the legendary "Asbury Alley" alongside Marcos & tag team partner DJ Fever (Canada)...During this period, Kazoo was addicted to the early "Intelligent" soundz of Lucky Spin, Good Looking, and Basement, as well as Moving Shadow and his all-time favorite Metalheadz! Fever was rocking the ILL ragga & Marcos had the jazzy beats! At this time he met Rochester's DJ Awake - another upstate pioneer, frequent DJ partner & dear friend! The Buffalo scene began to grow (thanks to Seuss, Family, ROM & others) but the time had come to go home! In 95/96 Kazoo returned to NYC & began to work with Master D at Nemesis record distribution... At this time deep, jazzy D*B (Full Cycle bizness) was in full swing. He was a resident at the tues.night "Redbud" party at Den of Thieves & @ Beau & Christian Bruna's "Camouflage". He played various parties in NYC & along the East Coast & Canada, but always loved rollin' back upstate visit his D&B roots crew! After Nemesis, he worked for the Breakbeat Science - a dream job for this admitted old skool junkie! In 99, he left his friends to become the D&B buyer at Syntax music - a new distributor set up by Master D! Flash forward to 2001 - Kazoo still finds himself dropping a creative blend of Techstep, old skool ragga, futuristic rollers & dark funk... He currently rolls with NYC's Direct Drive crew (BIG UP Cassien, Seoul Reid Speed & Doomer!), The Ism Massive (Testpress style!) & the Breakbeat Science boyz (Big up the Quartz,Shooter, Dara, Zeke, Still, & DB)... 2001 also marks the beginning of Ghost recordings (Kazoo's D&B label set up with Syntax partner JE) & Company D&B - a label he does A&R for! Ghost #1, by the NYC legend Delmar, will drop soon! Kazoo has been working on beats with talented musicians Tim Wagner & Andy Avitable, and should see the first release out before the new year!
